PREGNANCY

What should I know about my newborn’s oral health?

Practicing healthy habits can help reduce tooth decay in infants and children. You should clean your baby’s gums after feeding by cradling your baby with one arm, wrapping a moistened washcloth around your free index finger, and then gently massaging the gum tissues.

In addition, when your infant begins teething (around 4-6 months) he/she will have swollen and red gums as well as more saliva. Giving your child a teething ring or a cold wet washcloth can help ease these symptoms.
