CAVITIES

How do I prevent having cavities?

It never gets old – Brush twice and floss once a day to keep cavities away.

Cavities (or caries) are basically holes in enamel caused by acid formed by bacteria in the mouth.
Brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day goes a long way when it comes to
preventing cavities. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush designed for deep cleaning, and a toothpaste
that contains fluoride.

If you can’t brush after you eat, rinse your mouth with water.
In addition, nutrition impacts your oral health. Eating tooth-healthy foods such as fresh fruits,
vegetables, cheese and other dairy products deter cavity formation. Limiting sweetened
beverages due to high sugar content will fuel the cavity-preventing process.
